2.5 km of Breathing Air. 50 Manifolds. One Reliable System.

For a major refinery turnaround, Z Rental engineered and installed a 2.5 km breathing air network with approximately 50 distribution manifolds providing safe breathing air wherever work was taking place.

The challenge

During the turnaround, multiple contractors worked simultaneously in confined and enclosed spaces across the refinery. They required a continuous and reliable breathing air supply at approximately 50 different locations.

The challenge was to combine capacity and reliability with accessibility and flexibility, without installing a separate breathing air unit at every worksite.

The vision

Instead of treating each worksite as a separate application, Z Rental designed one integrated breathing air system.

A central supply would feed a site-wide network, while strategically positioned manifolds provided local access points. This combined central control with on-site accessibility.

The solution

We designed and installed a 2.5 km breathing air distribution network, supplied by three to six LSU combination units and a central distribution tank.

Approximately 50 manifolds were positioned throughout the refinery, each supporting four to six users simultaneously. The complete system included:

  • Central breathing air production
  • A central buffer and distribution tank
  • 2.5 km of distribution infrastructure
  • Approximately 50 local manifolds
  • Connections for four to six users per manifold
  • Breathing air hoses and respiratory protection equipment

From engineering and equipment supply to installation and operation, Z Rental delivered one complete breathing air infrastructure.

The result

The temporary network turned individual breathing air requirements into one centrally managed system. Contractors had reliable access close to their work locations, while the infrastructure could adapt as activities and teams moved across the refinery.

The result was a safe, flexible and efficient solution that kept breathing air accessible throughout the turnaround.

One network. Multiple work locations.
Reliable breathing air where it matters.
